Florida Supreme Court Docket

Docket Search Help

The most direct way to search the Florida Supreme Court docket is by case number. If you do not know the case number, you may search by party or attorney, lower tribunal case number, or date filed.

To search by case number

Select the case number prefix from the drop-down list and then enter the rest of the case number in the box. You must select prefix SC60 to search for any Florida Supreme Court case filed before 12/3/1999.

To search by party or attorney

You may search either for the party or attorney's name, an attorney's Florida Bar number, or a prisoner's prisoner number. You must provide at least a portion of either the last or first name, the bar number, or the prisoner number. You may also specify whether to search for names that contain the name you provide or start with the name you provide. When you supply a bar number or a prisoner number the search always returns a party or attorney whose bar number or prisoner number contains the number you provide.

  • Select Party or Attorney from the Search by drop-down list.

  • Click on either the Party or the Attorney button to select which type of search to do.

  • Click on the Contains button to search for a name that contains the string(s) of characters you provide or click on the Starts With button to search for a name that begins with the string(s) of characters you provide.

The search will return a list of all persons who meet all the criteria you provide.

  • From the list of persons returned, click on the number in the Count column of the person you were searching for. This will provide you with a list of cases in which that person is a party or attorney, depending on which option you selected.

  • From the list of cases, click on the case number listed in the Case column to see the docket for that case.

To search by lower tribunal case number

  • Select Lower Tribunal from the Search by drop-down list.

  • Enter at least part of the lower tribunal case number assigned by the court from which the case originated.

  • Click on the Contains button to search for a lower tribunal case number that contains the string of characters you provide or click on the Starts With button to search for a lower tribunal case number that begins with the string of characters you provide.

After you submit your query a list of cases containing or starting with the lower tribunal case number you provided will be returned. Click on the case number listed in the Case column to see the docket for that case.

To search by date filed

You may select only active cases or only closed cases that were filed during a date range that you provide. If you do not select a date range your search will return cases filed during the current calendar year. If you select a wide date range your query can take a while to return your results, which may contain a large number of cases. It is best to narrow the date range as much as possible.

  • Select Date Filed from the Search by drop-down list.

  • Click on the Active Cases Only button to select only cases that are still before the court or click on the Closed Cases Only button to select cases that are no longer before the court.

  • Select the range of dates filed to search for by selecting on the appropriate date components from the drop-down lists.

After you submit your query a list of cases filed between the dates you selected will be returned. Click on the case number listed in the Case column to see the docket for that case.
